Built in 1919 by Pond and Pond Architects in the Collegiate Gothic style, the Michigan Union is one of the most iconic and beloved buildings on the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor Campus. The University of Michigan Regents approved a $85.2 million plan to renovate the Union, restoring the building to its former glory. Student life is brought back to the main and second floors of the building with new lounge and study spaces, while the addition of a skylight encloses the existing courtyard allowing for year-round use. The existing accessible North Entrance to the building is redesigned and accessibility improvements are made throughout the project.
